Rhonda O'Connell

Ronda has been practicing yoga for nearly 10 years now.  She began her yoga journey with Beaufort’s own Kim Cech who inspired Ronda to grow her practice as an instructor.  Ronda completed the 230 hour “Live in Total Yoga Teacher Training Program” in 2002 at the Asheville Yoga Center in North Carolina under the direction of Stephanie Keach.  This comprehensive training program exposed her to many different styles of yoga including Iyengar, Vinyasa (flow), Anusara, Restorative, and Partner yoga just to name a few.  Since then Ronda has deepened her understanding and practice by attending many yoga workshops throughout the Southeast.

For the last 5 years Anusara Yoga has been the focus of Ronda’s continued practice.  She attended the 100 hour 2007 Anusara Immersion of the Carolinas “Living the Art of Yoga” training taught by three seasoned, dynamic, certified yogins:  Sarah Faircloth, Kelley Gardner and Stacey Milner-Collins.   It is here that the heart-centered, non-judgmental, joyful practice of Anusara yoga took on new meaning for Ronda.  “In Anusara yoga the most advanced student is not necessarily the one who is deepest in the pose, but rather the one who is most in tune with their heart and open to grace.  That is very liberating for those of us who are not naturally flexible.”

Ronda’s goal is to create a safe, enthusiastic atmosphere for her students where one can begin a new yoga practice, or expand an existing practice based on the Anusara principles of alignment, meditation, pranayama (breath work) and philosophy.

Ronda has lived in the Lowcountry for the last 17 years.  She lives on Saint Helena Island with her husband and 3 dogs.
